The record in detail

Deceased ancestors are given in full — this is ordinary published genealogy drawn from records that are already public. Living adults appear by name and relationship, with the year only — Earl's instruction of 3 October 2026: no full date of birth and no home town on any page that search engines index, and a living person's own page is kept out of search engines. Minors appear by name only: no date of birth, no birth year, no age, no school, no place, no address. A minor may be named and may appear in a family photograph; nothing further about them is published. Where it is not established whether someone is an adult or a minor, the minor rule applies — an unknown age is resolved protectively, not conveniently.

Research status

Research status: PROBABLE — named as the father of the groom in the 1704 marriage register, read from the image S607, and in the Michelbach register as the late Hans Bröger’s son in 1661, 1664 and 1669 (below).
Show detailsHide details

Evidence: The Michelbach an der Heide register of 1627 to 1678, read page by page: he is the unmarried son of the late Hans Bröger of Seibotenberg in 1661 and 1664, and marries as that man's son on 18 May 1669; a Hans was baptised to Hans Bröger there in August 1641, and his burial age on 4 April 1710 counts back to that month. The 1704 Triensbach marriage names him as the groom's father. Weak or missing: The 1641 baptism is undated and names no mother; his first wife's forename is missing from the marriage entry and her surname is a doubtful reading; that his son Johannes, baptised 20 April 1674, is the Hans of Triensbach rests on a burial age that is eleven months out. The later Michelbach baptism, marriage and burial books have not yet been read page by page. Not yet confirmed. Know more? Confirm or correct this →

Life

Birth1641
Baptised August 1641 at Michelbach an der Heide, by the parish register, read by eye from the image. Buried 4 April 1710 at Michelbach, same register. He is not in the burials of Triensbach, where his son farmed, for 1705 to 1721 S675. Son of Hans (Johannes) Pröger and Anna Probable, strong. What is weak: the 1641 entry is undated and names no mother, and the tie to that baptism rests on his burial age. Know more? Use “Add to this record”
Work1709
A farmer at Seibotenberg, a hamlet of Michelbach an der Heide parish, now part of Gerabronn; Pröger households are recorded there from 1709 to 1726 S610
Birth1670
Register entry, as written: baptism of Leonhart, 19 August 1670. German: “Leonhart, Hanßen Brögers zu Seÿbothenb. u. s. W. Barbarae S. Z. Leonh. Krafft, auch daselbst. 19. Augusti. [margin] Seÿtenberg” English: “Leonhart, son of Hans Bröger of Seibotenberg and his wife Barbara. Godfather: Leonhart Krafft, also of that place. 19 August [1670]. [margin] Seibotenberg” Reading: confirmed, read from the register image. This is the first entry that names his wife, Barbara. Source: Michelbach an der Heide (Dekanat Blaufelden, Württemberg), Mischbuch 1627–1678 Band 3, image 53 of 109 (Archion book 109839, page id 25466131); original in the Landeskirchliches Archiv Stuttgart. Text only; no image of this page is published here yet.
Birth1672
Register entry, as written: baptism of Christina, 18 March 1672. German: “Christina, Hanßen Brögers u. s. W. zu Seÿtenb. T. Z. Christina Leonh. Kraffts daselbst Haußfrau den 18. Febr. ☾ nach Laetare [margin] Seÿbothenberg” English: “Christina, daughter of Hans Bröger and his wife, of Seibotenberg. Godmother: Christina, wife of Leonhart Krafft of that place. 18 ‘February’, the Monday after Laetare [1672]. [margin] Seibotenberg” Reading: names and place confirmed, read from the register image. The month is written ‘Febr.’ but the entry stands among those of March, and the Monday after Laetare in 1672 was 18 March. The mother is not named, so that Christina is Barbara’s child is probable, not stated. Source: Michelbach an der Heide (Dekanat Blaufelden, Württemberg), Mischbuch 1627–1678 Band 3, image 56 of 109 (Archion book 109839, page id 25466140); original in the Landeskirchliches Archiv Stuttgart. Text only; no image of this page is published here yet.
Birth1674
Register entry, as written: baptism of Johannes, 20 April 1674. German: “Johannes Johannes Brögers [above the line: zu Seitenberg] u. s. W. Barb. Sohn. Z. Leonhart Krafft. f. 2. Paschatos. 20. Aprilis. [margin] Seÿtenberg” English: “Johannes, son of Johannes Bröger [of Seibotenberg] and his wife Barb[ara]. Godfather: Leonhart Krafft. Easter Monday, 20 April [1674]. [margin] Seibotenberg” Reading: confirmed, read from the register image; the surname lies partly under the scribe’s underline but is legible. Whether this son is the Hans who married at Triensbach in 1704 is probable only; see his card. Source: Michelbach an der Heide (Dekanat Blaufelden, Württemberg), Mischbuch 1627–1678 Band 3, image 58 of 109 (Archion book 109839, page id 25466146); original in the Landeskirchliches Archiv Stuttgart. The image of this entry, downloaded from Archion, is on his son’s card.

Family

Children1704
Father of Hans (Johann) Pröger, who married at Triensbach in 1704 S607
Marriage1669
Married twice: first on 18 May 1669, to a wife who is probably the Barbara of the baptisms that follow; then, a widower, on 7 November 1699 to Regina, a widow
Marriage1699
A widower by 1699: on 7 November 1699 at Michelbach an der Heide, “Hannß Pröger, Bauer zu Seibothenberg … ein Wittiber” married Regina, widow of the late Jörg W[einmann?] S666. So Hans’s mother had died before then, and Regina was his stepmother.
Marriage1669
His first marriage and children. On 18 May 1669 at Michelbach an der Heide, “Hanß Bröger”, son of the late Hans Bröger, court member at Seibotenberg, married a daughter of Andreas Neber(?), a farmer at Kleinbrettheim Confirmed, read from the image. Probable confirm or correct → that she is the Barbara named as his wife at the baptisms of Leonhart (19 August 1670) and Johannes (20 April 1674); a daughter Christina was baptised 18 March 1672. What is weak: the scribe left out the bride’s first name, and her surname could also be read Nober or Steber. Know more? Use “Add to this record”.
Parents1661
His parents are settled as far as this register can settle them. He stands godfather in 1661 and 1664 as the unmarried son of the late Hans Bröger, and marries in 1669 as that man’s son Confirmed; Probable confirm or correct → (strong) that he is the Hans baptised in August 1641, because his burial age in 1710 counts back to that month. Philipp Pröger, the Seibotenberg farmer who married Apollonia Sch[..]lerin on 1 August 1676 and was buried at Michelbach in March 1705 S673, was his younger brother, baptised 22 June 1644: from then to March 1705 is “61 less a quarter”, so the burial age read as “77 less a quarter” is probably 61 and needs a second look. His other brothers and sisters are listed on his father’s card; their mother Anna was a widow by October 1665 S674.
Parents1661
Register entry, as written: Hans stands godfather as his late father’s unmarried son, 26 September 1661. German: “Hans, Hanßen Waldmanns Hirt zu Seÿbotenberg S. Z. Hanß Bröger, Hanßen Brögers zu Seÿbotenb. nachgelass. lediger Sohn. 26. Septembris, 3. Tag vor Michaelis [margin] Seÿbotenbg” English: “Hans, son of Hans Waldmann, herdsman at Seibotenberg. Godfather: Hans Bröger, the unmarried son left by Hans Bröger of Seibotenberg. 26 September [1661], the third day before Michaelmas. [margin] Seibotenberg” Reading: confirmed, read from the register image. ‘Nachgelassen’ (left behind) shows his father was dead by this date. Source: Michelbach an der Heide (Dekanat Blaufelden, Württemberg), Mischbuch 1627–1678 Band 3, image 43 of 109 (Archion book 109839, page id 25466101); original in the Landeskirchliches Archiv Stuttgart. Text only; no image of this page is published here yet.
Children1664
Register entry, as written: Johannes stands godfather as the late Hans Bröger’s son, 24 April 1664. German: “Leonhart, Leonhart Craffts u. [a word struck out; above the line: Christina] s. W. zu Seÿtenb. S. Z. Johannes Bröger, Hanßen Brögers p. m. nachgelaß. ehel. S. 24. Apr. Dn. Misericordias. [margin] Seitenberg” English: “Leonhart, son of Leonhart Krafft and Christina his wife, of Seibotenberg. Godfather: Johannes Bröger, the legitimate son left by Hans Bröger of blessed memory. 24 April [1664], Misericordias Domini Sunday. [margin] Seibotenberg” Reading: confirmed, read from the register image. Source: Michelbach an der Heide (Dekanat Blaufelden, Württemberg), Mischbuch 1627–1678 Band 3, image 46 of 109 (Archion book 109839, page id 25466110); original in the Landeskirchliches Archiv Stuttgart. Marriage2026
History of this card. 26 Sep 2026
card added: his father was then not known, with two Seibotenberg candidates, Hans Pröger with his wife Anna (from a later-hand copy of the baptisms, S674) and Philipp Pröger (S673); his burial had not been found at Michelbach in 1704–1705 or at Triensbach in 1705–1721 (S673, S675); his remarriage of 1699 entered (S666).
4 Oct 2026 — baptism of August 1641 and burial of 4 April 1710 entered from the Archion images of the Michelbach register, replacing “where he died is not known”.
8 Oct 2026 — the 1627–1678 register read page by page: his father is the late Hans Bröger (godfather entries of 1661 and 1664, marriage of 1669); Philipp moved from candidate father to younger brother; first marriage, three baptisms and five register entries added; the weak point about the later-hand copy withdrawn.
12 Oct 2026 — the dated notes folded into the standing text; the two candidate-father notes and the burial-search note of 26 September removed from the body.

Research status

Research status: PROBABLE as the mother of Elisabetha Schuster. Elisabetha’s 1678 baptism names her parents as Hans Schuster of Nieder-Schmerach and Maria S609, and Hans Schuster of Unter-Schmerach married Anna Maria Gronbach at Lendsiedel in 1676 S805. Both read from the register images. What is weak: each is a single register entry, and a second Hans Schuster in the hamlet cannot be ruled out. Her own father is confirmed by the 1676 entry.
Show detailsHide details

Evidence: The 1676 Lendsiedel marriage names her as the daughter of Hans Gronbach the younger of Groß-Allmerspann, and Elisabetha's 1678 baptism names her parents Hans Schuster and Maria; a Langenburg baptism of December 1652 records Anna Maria, child of Johannes Gronbach and Eva; all read from the register images. Weak or missing: Her place as Elisabetha's mother rests on single entries; the 1652 child is taken to be the 1676 bride only because the father, hamlet and name match; her burial is not found. Not yet confirmed. Know more? Confirm or correct this →

Life

Birth1652
Baptised at Langenburg in December 1652, the daughter of Johannes Gronbach of Groß-Allmerspann and Eva S837. This is taken to be the same Anna Maria because the father, the hamlet and the given name all match; she would have been 23 at her marriage

Living adults appear by name and relationship, with the year only: no full date of birth and no home town on any page that search engines index, and a living person’s own page is kept out of search engines. Minors appear by name only — no date of birth, no birth year, no age, no school, no place, no address, no other identifying detail. A minor may be named and may appear in a family photograph; nothing further about them is published. Where it is not established whether someone is an adult or a minor, the minor rule applies.
