Sources

The sources below are cited inline throughout; the list is the count, and no total is printed here because a hand-written one drifted twice. Raw retrieved pages and record images are held in the private research directory, not on this site. Not every entry is a document, and each one that is not is labelled so that no reader mistakes it for one: S24 is what the family said, S46 is a DNA result, S57 is a relative's Ancestry tree, S58 is a published family genealogy quoting a will nobody here has read, S59 is an 1878 subscription biographical directory, and S66 is a published family genealogy whose Page County search found nothing and whose second search, on new names, found two generations at Probable. Those carry most of the depth below the second-great-grandparents, which is exactly why the tags matter. S25–S35 were added on 13 September 2026 with the Timberman and Caffey findings, S36–S45 later the same day with the Walker, Peters and Selland findings and the two paternal upgrades, S46 that night with the DNA, S47–S56 on 14 September with the Silva and Rose findings, S57–S63 the same day with the full-depth pedigree and the two portraits, S64–S66 on 15 September with the Azores lodge registers and the Kauffman-Coffman book, and S67 the same evening with Frank Silva Sr's 1946 obituary, the notice that confirmed Faial. S68–S73 followed on 16 September — Julius Proeger's Pennsylvania death certificate and his Kirchberg baptism, Medie Owens's Texas death certificate, the Peters–Selland marriage record, the Coffman family typescript and the memorial livestream — with S74–S77 the four Røldal parish entries and S78 the Pasadena press on Robert W. Coffman's career. S79–S88 were added on 17 September 2026: they are documents that were already published in the Documents section and were being cited on the cards above as though they were tree entries — the 1919 Ohio death certificate and the 1917 draft card, Mary Jane Wright's 1934 Texas certificate, the Page County birth register, the two Coffman gravestones, Dr. Wright's 1878 will and his printed county-history biography, the Martin headstone, the 1930 Jackson County census and the 1946 Roberts marriage record. S89 followed the same day — the 1962 Abilene Reporter-News interview in which James Burton Coffman names his niece at Abilene Christian, the only non-family source on this page for two facts that had been resting on the family obituary alone. S90–S102 were added on 17 September 2026 in the reconciliation pass: the Ohio birth index and CA Death Index that identified Anna Blanche Roberts's parents (S90–S91), the 1900 census of the Henry Roberts household in Wheeling, WV (S92), the PA death certificate and 1860 census that confirmed the Timberman grandparents (S93–S94), the TN marriage record and 1850 censuses that confirmed the Martin/Chenault line (S95–S98), the NJ Birth Index for Louise Timberman (S99), and the three DNA results — 23andMe paternal and maternal haplogroups and the GEDmatch "Are Your Parents Related?" test (S100–S102). The existing numbering has never been disturbed, so every citation printed above still points where it always did.

Where we looked and found nothing

Records were reached through the family’s own Ancestry, FamilySearch and Archion subscriptions and through public archives; no paywall or CAPTCHA was bypassed. One false lead is worth remembering: the apparent “Proeger” in the 1950 Texas census is a Kroeger, an unrelated family with no nine-year-old boy in it. What is still being looked for is on the front page under What is still unknown.

Compiled for the Proeger family

Living adults appear by name and relationship, with the year only: no full date of birth and no home town on any page that search engines index, and a living person’s own page is kept out of search engines. Minors appear by name only — no date of birth, no birth year, no age, no school, no place, no address, no other identifying detail. A minor may be named and may appear in a family photograph; nothing further about them is published. Where it is not established whether someone is an adult or a minor, the minor rule applies.
