How to read this record
Every claim is tagged
Most family trees flatten everything into the same confident typeface. This one does not. The three research tags below are the whole point of the exercise: they say what a document proves, what the weight of evidence suggests, and what nobody has found yet. A fourth marks what the family stated directly, where no document has been retrieved at all — it is kept separate on purpose and is never quietly promoted to confirmed. A fifth marks biological evidence: a DNA result is not a document, and it is not testimony either. Two further labels mark where this page withholds information rather than lacking it.
Attested by a document that was actually retrieved and read — a census sheet, a government index, a grave marker, a family-written obituary.
Strongly supported but not nailed down: a user-contributed tree, a masked index field, or a chain of consistent circumstances. Believable, not proven.
Searched for and not located. This is a statement about the search, not about the person — the record may well exist somewhere unsearched.
Supplied by the family and recorded on their word — no document has been retrieved for it. Note the diamond rather than the dot: this is provenance, not proof, and it stands apart from the three record tags above S24.
Biological evidence consistent with a claim. It corroborates origins; it does not by itself establish a person or a link. Note the bar rather than a dot or a diamond: no DNA result on this page is ever counted as confirmed, because no document was read for it S46.
The person is living. On the charts and in the chains of names a living person appears by name and relationship. A living adult’s full record is on their own card, published with the family’s consent and kept out of search engines. A minor appears by name only. The privacy note at the head of the page gives the rule in full.
A branch that is actively being worked on. The node exists in the structure so the shape of the family is honest; the detail is simply not in yet.

Research status
Evidence: Maudante Bradley’s death record (as Mordant Chenault, 1935) names her parents as Thomas Bradley and Eugenia Huddleston (S656); in 1880 T. E. Bradley, 42, and Euginia, 33, of Wilson County, Tennessee, had a daughter M. M., 7 (S1333). Weak or missing: One record names him; the 1880 household gives initials only, and his birth day, middle name and death are not in any record read here. Not yet confirmed. Know more? - S424Tennessee, U.S., Marriage Records — Wilson County marriage record, no. 181 (printed pp. 382–383): Chas. C. Chenault to Mandante Bradley, 15 November 1893. Ancestry record 3220078. Image examined, read 24 September 2026. Confirmed Licence issued at Lebanon, Tenn., on 15 November 1893 “to Chas. C. Chenault to marry Mandante Bradley”, Wm. Harkreader, clerk; the return, Wilson County, says the rite was solemnized the same day, 15 November 1893, by T. B. Larimore, M.G. The bride's given name reads Mandante, or equally Maudante: n and u cannot be told apart in this hand. The censuses give Mordalite and Mordante; the tree's Maudante is kept and the spelling stays open.
- S656Tennessee death record, 1935, certificate 12557. Ancestry record 339854. Image examined, read 25 September 2026. Confirmed Mordant Chenault, wife of C. C. Chenault, of Castalian Springs; born 20 February 1873, Tennessee; died 24 June 1935, St. Thomas Hospital, Nashville; parents Thomas Bradley and Eugenia Huddleston; buried at Gallatin. The Ancestry index files her as Maudante Bradley.
- S13331880 census — T. E. Bradley household, 17th Civil District, Wilson County, Tennessee, ED 260, p. 8, lines 4–10. Ancestry, “1880 United States Federal Census”, record 41915264. Image examined in the Stage 2 reading, 26 September 2026. Probable Dwelling 60: Bradley, T. E., 42, farmer; Euginia, wife, 33; and daughters L. P., 10, M. M., 7, and M. W., 5; with a 19-year-old orphan girl, assistant housekeeper, and a farm worker, 50. All were born in Tennessee. The household is clearly Thomas and Eugenia Bradley, the parents her death record names. Which daughter is Maudante is not clear: the index takes M. W., 5, but her death record’s birth on 20 February 1873 fits M. M., 7, better. The census gives initials only. PROBABLE.
