Research status

Research status: PROBABLE as Earl’s 10th-great-grandfather. That he was Anna’s father is read from the register image Confirmed; that Anna was the mother of Hanß Pröger (Earl’s 8th-great-grandfather) is probable, strong, because mothers are not named in the Michelbach baptisms before 1663 Probable confirm or correct →.

Evidence: The 27 July 1634 Lendsiedel marriage entry, read from the image (Michelbach Mischbuch Bd 2, image 113), names Anna as the legitimate daughter of the late Michel Schumann, farmer at Seibotenberg; the Schumanns of Seibotenberg stood godparents to all of Hans and Anna’s children, 1639–1655. Weak or missing: One record names him, and only as a dead man; his link to Earl runs through Anna, whose motherhood of Hanß is probable because mothers are not named in the baptisms before 1663. Not yet confirmed. Know more? Confirm or correct this →

Marriage1634
On 27 July 1634 at Lendsiedel, Hans Bröger “von Lenckerstetten, wittwer” married Anna Pröger, “Michel Schumanns weÿland Bauern uff Seÿbothenberg hinterlaß. ehel. Tochter” (the legitimate daughter of the late Michel Schumann, farmer at Seibotenberg). Michel was therefore a farmer at Seibotenberg and dead by July 1634 Confirmed. (Source: Michelbach an der Heide (Dekanat Blaufelden, Württemberg), Mischbuch 1627–1678 Band 2, image 113 (Archion book 109836, page id 25465948); original in the Landeskirchliches Archiv Stuttgart; read from the image; text only, no image of this page is published here yet.)
Parents1639
The Schumanns of Seibotenberg stood godparents to every child of Hans and Anna from 1639 to 1655 (a Babylonia Schumann in 1639, a Hans Schumann in 1641); how they were related to Michel is not stated. His wife, his birth and his burial date are not known: the Michelbach books begin in 1627 and the entry of his burial has not been found.

Compiled for the Proeger family

Living adults appear by name and relationship, with the year only: no full date of birth and no home town on any page that search engines index, and a living person’s own page is kept out of search engines. Minors appear by name only — no date of birth, no birth year, no age, no school, no place, no address, no other identifying detail. A minor may be named and may appear in a family photograph; nothing further about them is published. Where it is not established whether someone is an adult or a minor, the minor rule applies.
