Research status

Research status: PROBABLE son of James P. Montgomery and Elenor Frances Bradford, and twin of Virginia Francis Montgomery. Evidence: the index of his Texas death certificate names his father as Jim Montgomery and his mother as Ellen Bradford S1186; in 1880, read from the image, he is “Harry Alex”, 21, son, in James P. Montgomery’s household in DeWitt County, bracketed as a twin with Virginia S1095. Added to the family tree on 8 October 2026. Added 8 October 2026

Evidence: The index of his 1931 Texas death certificate names his father as Jim Montgomery and his mother as Ellen Bradford (S1186); in 1880, read from the image, he is Harry Alex, 21, son, in James P. Montgomery's household in DeWitt County, bracketed as a twin with Virginia (S1095). Weak or missing: The death certificate is read from its index only, not the image, and its informant is unknown; his exact birth date rests on that one index line; the 1880 census is the only record read from an image that calls him a son of James P. Weak or missing
What is weak or missing: the death certificate is read from FamilySearch’s index only, not the image, and its informant is unknown; the exact birth date rests on that one index line; the 1880 census is the only record read from an image that calls him a son of James P. Reading the 1931 certificate would settle it. Know more? Use “Add to this record”.

Compiled for the Proeger family

Living adults appear by name and relationship, with the year only: no full date of birth and no home town on any page that search engines index, and a living person’s own page is kept out of search engines. Minors appear by name only — no date of birth, no birth year, no age, no school, no place, no address, no other identifying detail. A minor may be named and may appear in a family photograph; nothing further about them is published. Where it is not established whether someone is an adult or a minor, the minor rule applies.
