How to read this record
Every claim is tagged
Most family trees flatten everything into the same confident typeface. This one does not. The three research tags below are the whole point of the exercise: they say what a document proves, what the weight of evidence suggests, and what nobody has found yet. A fourth marks what the family stated directly, where no document has been retrieved at all — it is kept separate on purpose and is never quietly promoted to confirmed. A fifth, added on 13 September 2026, marks biological evidence: a DNA result is not a document, and it is not testimony either. Two further labels mark where this page withholds information rather than lacking it.
Attested by a document that was actually retrieved and read — a census sheet, a government index, a grave marker, a family-written obituary.
Strongly supported but not nailed down: a user-contributed tree, a masked index field, or a chain of consistent circumstances. Believable, not proven.
Searched for and not located. This is a statement about the search, not about the person — the record may well exist somewhere unsearched.
Supplied by the family and recorded on their word — no document has been retrieved for it. Note the diamond rather than the dot: this is provenance, not proof, and it stands apart from the three record tags above S24.
Biological evidence consistent with a claim. It corroborates origins; it does not by itself establish a person or a link. Note the bar rather than a dot or a diamond: no DNA result on this page is ever counted as confirmed, because no document was read for it S46.
The person is living. On the charts and in the chains of names a living person appears by name and relationship. A living adult’s full record is on their own card, published with the family’s consent and kept out of search engines. A minor appears by name only. The privacy note at the head of the page gives the rule in full.
A branch that is actively being worked on. The node exists in the structure so the shape of the family is honest; the detail is simply not in yet.

The record in detail
Deceased ancestors are given in full — this is ordinary published genealogy drawn from records that are already public. Living adults appear by name and relationship, with the year only — Earl's instruction of 3 October 2026: no full date of birth and no home town on any page that search engines index, and a living person's own page is kept out of search engines. Minors appear by name only: no date of birth, no birth year, no age, no school, no place, no address. A minor may be named and may appear in a family photograph; nothing further about them is published. Where it is not established whether someone is an adult or a minor, the minor rule applies — an unknown age is resolved protectively, not conveniently.

Evidence: A burial entry at Røldal in 1823 for Guri Anfinsdatter of Præstegaarden, the farm of Orm Olsen and of Ingebjørg Ormsdatter; the 1801 census (S1286) enters Orm Olsen, 69, and Guri Anfinsdatter, 62, as the parents of the head of Præstegaarden, with Ingebor Ormsdatter, 16, as his sister. Weak or missing: The 1801 census is filed under Suldal, so that its Præstegaarden is the Røldal farm of her burial rests on the names and Ingebjørg's age agreeing; it makes Ingebjørg her daughter only through the head's sister, and Guri was about 46 at her birth, so a half-sister through an earlier wife of Orm is not ruled out. Evidence: The patronymic Ormsdatter carried by his presumed daughter Ingebjørg, of the Præstegaarden farm, a burial entry at Røldal in 1830 for an Orm Olsen of Præstegaarden, and the 1801 census (S1286), which enters Orm Olsen, 69, and Guri Anfinsdatter, 62, as the parents of the head of Præstegaarden, with Ingebor Ormsdatter, 16, as his sister. Weak or missing: No record names Orm Olsen as Ingebjørg's father in so many words; the 1801 census makes her the head's sister and Orm the head's father, and it is filed under Suldal, so that its Præstegaarden is the Røldal farm of the burials rests on the names and her age agreeing.
