Research status

Research status: CONFIRMED daughter of James L. Montgomery. Evidence: her obituary in the Victoria Advocate of 2 July 1976 calls Mrs. Eunice Faye Jarratt, 84, “daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Billings Montgomery” and names two sisters who are both survivors in James L. Montgomery’s 1932 obituary, where she is “Mrs. John L. Jarratt of Victoria” and he died at her home S1667. Added to the family tree on 11 October 2026

Life in the order the records give it

Birth1892
Born 30 March 1892 in Gonzales County, Texas; a resident of Victoria since 1918; died there on 1 July 1976 in a rest home; buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Victoria S1667

Family parents, marriages, children, siblings

Marriage1969
Her husband was John L. Jarratt Sr., who died on 9 April 1969 S1667. He was the informant on her father’s 1932 death certificate S1199. He has no card of his own: his birth, parents and death place are not known, and no record of his own has been read. He was very likely a brother of Charles Allen Jarratt, her sister Irene’s husband; that is not proved
Siblings
Her brother and sister with cards: Milton Eastland Montgomery and W. Irene Montgomery. Her sons and grandchildren are not named here, because they may be living

Open questions what is probable, weak or missing — confirm or correct it

Probable
Probable confirm or correct → Her mother is entered as Elizabeth Billings, as the obituary names her. What is weak: no record of Elizabeth’s own has been read, and her card sets out the two accounts of 1932
Weak or missing
What is weak or missing: her birth date and place come from the obituary only; the newspaper text is machine-read and was not checked against the page image; no birth, marriage or death certificate has been read. Know more? Use “Add to this record”.

Compiled for the Proeger family

Living adults appear by name and relationship, with the year only: no full date of birth and no home town on any page that search engines index, and a living person’s own page is kept out of search engines. Minors appear by name only — no date of birth, no birth year, no age, no school, no place, no address, no other identifying detail. A minor may be named and may appear in a family photograph; nothing further about them is published. Where it is not established whether someone is an adult or a minor, the minor rule applies.
