How to read this record
Every claim is tagged
Most family trees flatten everything into the same confident typeface. This one does not. The three research tags below are the whole point of the exercise: they say what a document proves, what the weight of evidence suggests, and what nobody has found yet. A fourth marks what the family stated directly, where no document has been retrieved at all — it is kept separate on purpose and is never quietly promoted to confirmed. A fifth, added on 13 September 2026, marks biological evidence: a DNA result is not a document, and it is not testimony either. Two further labels mark where this page withholds information rather than lacking it.
Attested by a document that was actually retrieved and read — a census sheet, a government index, a grave marker, a family-written obituary.
Strongly supported but not nailed down: a user-contributed tree, a masked index field, or a chain of consistent circumstances. Believable, not proven.
Searched for and not located. This is a statement about the search, not about the person — the record may well exist somewhere unsearched.
Supplied by the family and recorded on their word — no document has been retrieved for it. Note the diamond rather than the dot: this is provenance, not proof, and it stands apart from the three record tags above S24.
Biological evidence consistent with a claim. It corroborates origins; it does not by itself establish a person or a link. Note the bar rather than a dot or a diamond: no DNA result on this page is ever counted as confirmed, because no document was read for it S46.
The person is living. By the privacy rule for this page, name and relationship are shown, and at most a year the family has already published. Full dates of birth, ages, places of residence and record identifiers are held back.
A branch that is actively being worked on. The node exists in the structure so the shape of the family is honest; the detail is simply not in yet.

Research status
Evidence: The indexes of the 1910, 1920 and 1930 censuses of Callahan County list her as a daughter in the household of George A. and Lucy C. Chrane, in 1910 as Cassie O.; the Find a Grave index gives her birth on 8 November 1908 and her death on 15 June 1988 (S1726, S1717, S1723). The evidence is strong. Weak or missing: Every record is an index and no image has been read; no record of her own names her parents; both dates rest on one grave index, and no place of death is known. Not yet confirmed. - S1717Texas death certificate index — Mrs. Lucy C. Chrane, Abilene, Taylor County, 30 December 1929; with the 1910 and 1920 census indexes. Ancestry, “Texas, U.S., Death Certificates, 1903–1982”, record 22383856; FamilySearch K3QC-W12 and Texas Death Index VZD7-BJX; FamilySearch census indexes M298-X1P (1910, Justice Precinct 4, Callahan County) and MCM9-F2Z (1920). Indexes read on 4 October 2026. Probable Mrs. Lucy C. Chrane, born 20 Dec 1886, Texas, died 30 Dec 1929 at Abilene, aged 43; father D. E. Coffman, mother Mollie Wright. In 1910 and 1920 Lucy C. is the wife of George A. Chrane. ⚠ Index only: no image of the certificate or of either census page has been read. Her 1929 funeral notice, read as machine text, is at S1732; it gives her birth a year earlier, in 1885. Serves the cards of Lucy C. Coffman Chrane and of her husband George Albert Chrane; three of their children have cards of their own (S1726).
- S1723Indexes — George Albert Chrane, born Texas, 15 January 1883; died September 1970, last residence Taylor County, Texas. FamilySearch: World War I draft registration index, Callahan County, Texas (7TZY-G76Z); 1930 census index, Precinct 2, Callahan County (CQP9-GW2); Texas birth index, Abilene, 1926; Social Security Death Index (J1LH-76K). Indexes read on 4 October 2026; no image read. Probable Draft registration: George Albert Chrane, born 15 Jan 1883, nearest relative Lucy Caroline Chrane. 1930: G. A. Chrane, with children. Birth index, 1926: father George Albert Chrane, mother Lucy Catherine Coffman. Social Security: George Chrane, born 15 Jan 1883, died Sep 1970, last residence Taylor County. ⚠ Index only: no image has been read. These indexes give the death to the month only, with a last residence and no place of death; the day, 2 September 1970, and the place, Abilene, are from the funeral notice at S1733. His wife’s middle name differs between the two indexes that give it. The 1910 and 1920 census indexes that name the couple are at S1717. Serves the card of George Albert Chrane; three of his children have cards of their own (S1726).
- S1726Indexes — three children of George Albert Chrane and Lucy C. Coffman Chrane, Callahan and Taylor Counties, Texas, 1906–1998. Ancestry, Texas death index (4876/3843171); FamilySearch: Find a Grave index (QV2S-33SB, QVV5-BLGT); Second World War draft registration index (QL3D-BB5F); Texas Death Index (VZ8J-4QY). The census indexes of 1910, 1920 and 1930 for the household are at S1717 and S1723. Indexes read on 4 October 2026; no image read. Probable Death index: Lucille Odelle, born 17 Nov 1906, died 6 Oct 1998, Taylor County, mother Lucy C. Coffman; grave at Dudley, Callahan County. Find a Grave: Carey Oletta, born 8 Nov 1908, died 15 Jun 1988. Draft registration: Leo George Chrane, born 20 Nov 1911 at Dudley, Texas; Texas Death Index: died 21 Oct 1994, Taylor County. ⚠ Index only: no image has been read. Only the first entry names a parent, and it names the mother alone; the other two children are tied to the couple by the census households. The second child’s dates rest on one grave index, with no place of death. It does not settle the day of the son’s birth, which a family history printed in 1940 gives as 17 November (S1222). Serves the cards of Lucille Odelle Chrane, Carey Oletta Chrane and Leo George Chrane.
