How to read this record
Every claim is tagged
Most family trees flatten everything into the same confident typeface. This one does not. The three research tags below are the whole point of the exercise: they say what a document proves, what the weight of evidence suggests, and what nobody has found yet. A fourth marks what the family stated directly, where no document has been retrieved at all — it is kept separate on purpose and is never quietly promoted to confirmed. A fifth marks biological evidence: a DNA result is not a document, and it is not testimony either. Two further labels mark where this page withholds information rather than lacking it.
Attested by a document that was actually retrieved and read — a census sheet, a government index, a grave marker, a family-written obituary.
Strongly supported but not nailed down: a user-contributed tree, a masked index field, or a chain of consistent circumstances. Believable, not proven.
Searched for and not located. This is a statement about the search, not about the person — the record may well exist somewhere unsearched.
Supplied by the family and recorded on their word — no document has been retrieved for it. Note the diamond rather than the dot: this is provenance, not proof, and it stands apart from the three record tags above S24.
Biological evidence consistent with a claim. It corroborates origins; it does not by itself establish a person or a link. Note the bar rather than a dot or a diamond: no DNA result on this page is ever counted as confirmed, because no document was read for it S46.
The person is living. On the charts and in the chains of names a living person appears by name and relationship. A living adult’s full record is on their own card, published with the family’s consent and kept out of search engines. A minor appears by name only. The privacy note at the head of the page gives the rule in full.
A branch that is actively being worked on. The node exists in the structure so the shape of the family is honest; the detail is simply not in yet.

The sources below are cited inline throughout; the list is the count, and no total is printed here because a hand-written one drifted twice. Raw retrieved pages and record images are held in the private research directory, not on this site. Not every entry is a document, and each one that is not is labelled so that no reader mistakes it for one: S24 is what the family said, S46 is a DNA result, S57 is a relative's Ancestry tree, S58 is a published family genealogy quoting a will nobody here has read, S59 is an 1878 subscription biographical directory, and S66 is a published family genealogy whose Page County search found nothing and whose second search, on new names, found two generations at Probable. Those carry most of the depth below the second-great-grandparents, which is exactly why the tags matter. S25–S35 were added on 13 September 2026 with the Timberman and Caffey findings, S36–S45 later the same day with the Walker, Peters and Selland findings and the two paternal upgrades, S46 that night with the DNA, S47–S56 on 14 September with the Silva and Rose findings, S57–S63 the same day with the full-depth pedigree and the two portraits, S64–S66 on 15 September with the Azores lodge registers and the Kauffman-Coffman book, and S67 the same evening with Frank Silva Sr's 1946 obituary, the notice that confirmed Faial. S68–S73 followed on 16 September — Julius Proeger's Pennsylvania death certificate and his Kirchberg baptism, Medie Owens's Texas death certificate, the Peters–Selland marriage record, the Coffman family typescript and the memorial livestream — with S74–S77 the four Røldal parish entries and S78 the Pasadena press on Robert W. Coffman's career. S79–S88 were added on 17 September 2026: they are documents that were already published in the Documents section and were being cited on the cards above as though they were tree entries — the 1919 Ohio death certificate and the 1917 draft card, Mary Jane Wright's 1934 Texas certificate, the Page County birth register, the two Coffman gravestones, Dr. Wright's 1878 will and his printed county-history biography, the Martin headstone, the 1930 Jackson County census and the 1946 Roberts marriage record. S89 followed the same day — the 1962 Abilene Reporter-News interview in which James Burton Coffman names his niece at Abilene Christian, the only non-family source on this page for two facts that had been resting on the family obituary alone. S90–S102 were added on 17 September 2026 in the reconciliation pass: the Ohio birth index and CA Death Index that identified Anna Blanche Roberts's parents (S90–S91), the 1900 census of the Henry Roberts household in Wheeling, WV (S92), the PA death certificate and 1860 census that confirmed the Timberman grandparents (S93–S94), the TN marriage record and 1850 censuses that confirmed the Martin/Chenault line (S95–S98), the NJ Birth Index for Louise Timberman (S99), and the three DNA results — 23andMe paternal and maternal haplogroups and the GEDmatch "Are Your Parents Related?" test (S100–S102). The existing numbering has never been disturbed, so every citation printed above still points where it always did.

Evangelische Kirche Triensbach; Landeskirchliches Archiv Stuttgart, on Archion (book 117891, image 48, page id 32401308). Image examined, read 17 October 2026. Confirmed Under the heading “d. 28. Juny”: “Prögerin Anna Barbara, Johann Caspar Prögers, Casten-Amts Crailsheim Unterthanens u. Bauern allhie, u. Margarethae conj. Töchterlein”, born in the night at about one o’clock and baptised; godmothers Catharina, wife of Johann Michel Pröger (?), Bürger at Ing…heim (?), Anna Ursula, wife of Johann Michael Köller (?), a tailor, and Anna Barbara, wife of Georg Michel Kreisig, farmer at Triensbach. A later hand adds below the entry “† zu Lobenhausen den 17. Janr. 1819”. The year 1742 is from the heading earlier in the book. The Lobenhausen death note probably belongs to this entry (it stands under it, before the next date), so her death there on 17 January 1819 is Probable until a Lobenhausen burial entry is read. The first godmother’s husband’s surname and place are uncertain readings.Cited on Johann Caspar Pröger · Margaretha Bullinger · Timeline.

Probable Taken to be the marriage of Frank Silva Sr’s parents: the groom, both his parents and his parish match [S1228] [S1229] [S1232]; the bride’s mother Anna Felicia [S1230], her father José Francisco (de Medeiros), her second name Constancia (“Florencia Constancia” in 1886) and Fonte Nova all match. The bride’s first name is written Francisca, not Florência, in the margin and the text; against a sister marrying the same man: eight days before the marriage, on 30 September 1838, José Francisco, son of Antonio Francisco da Silva and Anna Francisca of Pedro Miguel, and “Florinda”, daughter of José Francisco and Anna Felicia of Cedros, stood godparents together at a Cedros baptism [S2252], which points to Florência, not a sister, as the bride. Georg [B]üllinger, Hohenlohe-Kirchberg subject and farmer at Eichenau, at Triensbach on 12 March 1737. 1746 no. 1 (image 90): Georg Michael Pröger, son of the late Hans Pröger, marries Anna Barbara, widow of Georg Leonhard Kößler, on 18 January 1746. 1748 no. 6 (image 92): Friedrich Pröger, son of the late Johann Geo[rg] Pröger, marries Maria Barbara, widow of Johann Leonhard Kößler, on 30 April 1748. The four entries are read from the page. What they do not settle: the capital of the bride’s surname in 1737 could be read H or B (the Lendsiedel copy, S599, writes Bullingerin plainly, and her burial, S601, Bül[l…]in); the Kößler villages of 1746 and 1748 are not identified; and the father is “Johann Georg” only in 1734 and 1748. - S2255Røldal parish register (ministerialbok 1780–1816), page 50: baptism of Mons, 3 July 1813. Statsarkivet i Bergen, Digitalarkivet source 11628, image kb20070515610306. Image examined, read 18 October 2026; the date and the residence “Backenes” agree with the archive’s index. Probable “Tore og Ingeborg Bakkenes S. Mons”, sponsors Ole F[…], Nils Hamre, Nils Haarenes, “Maritta Selland” and a Britta whose farm is not clear. What is Probable is that the parents are Tore Monsen Selland and Ingebjørg Ormsdatter: the entry gives no patronymics, as in 1808 and 1811 (S1696, S2253), but they are the couple at Bakkene in 1820 (S76). The son’s name is that of the father the 1801 census gives Tore, Mons Torsen (S1694): support for that link, not a record of it. No burial of Mons Torsen is on this page or in the book’s other burials, read from the images. - S2256Røldal parish register (ministerialbok 1780–1816), page 54: baptism of Orm, 1 July 1815. Statsarkivet i Bergen, Digitalarkivet source 11628, image kb20070515610310. Image examined, read 18 October 2026; the date is the archive’s index (the service heading is on the facing page). Probable “Tore og Ingeborg Bakkenes S. Orm”, sponsors Eric Lone, Torchel Saltvold, “Anfin Præstegaard”, Guro Lone, Britta Haarenes. The same entry form as S2255. The son bears the name of Ingebjørg Ormsdatter’s father, Orm Olsen of Præstegaarden (S1286), and a man of Præstegaarden stands sponsor. No patronymics. Serves the cards of Tore Monsen Selland, Ingebjørg Ormsdatter and Orm Olsen.Cited on Tore Monsen Selland · Ingebjørg Ormsdatter · Orm Olsen · Documents · Timeline.
- S2257Hardanger probate court (skifterettsprotokoll for Hardanger 1800–1822), pages 618b–619a: estate no. 7, Torbjør Bjørnsdatter of Bakkene in Røldal, begun 24 November 1815, closed 11 March 1816. Hardanger og Voss sorenskriveri, Statsarkivet i Bergen, Digitalarkivet source 24115, image sk20081119650821; found through the book’s own name register. Image examined, read 18 October 2026. Confirmed Heirs: “Ældste Søn Tore Monsen Bakkene, myndig”; the second son Bjørn Monsen; the daughters Siri, Brita and Guro Monsdatter, married; and “Torbjør Monsdr. ugift 24 Aar”, whose guardian is her brother Tore Monsen Bakkene. No share goes to a husband: Mons Torsen had died before November 1805 (S2258). With the 1801 census (S1694) and his probate (S2258) one of three original records that make Tore Monsen of Bakkene the son of Mons Torsen and Torbiør Biørnsdatter. Some farm names of the officials and sons-in-law are uncertain readings. Serves the card of Tore Monsen Selland.Cited on Selland & Lone line · Tore Monsen Selland · Documents · Timeline.
- S2258Hardanger probate court (skifterettsprotokoll for Hardanger 1800–1822), folios 280b–281a: estate no. 33, Mons Thorsen of Bakken under Selland in Røldal, begun 23 November 1805, closed 7 June 1806. Hardanger og Voss sorenskriveri, Statsarkivet i Bergen, Digitalarkivet source 24115, image sk20081119650480; found through the book’s own name register (under M). Image examined, read 18 October 2026. Confirmed The heirs of the late “Mons Thorsen” are his widow “Torbjør Biørnsdatter”, who takes half, and six children: the eldest son “Tore Monsen”, of age; Bjørn Monsen, 10; Sigri Monsdatter, 30; Britha Monsdatter, 27; Guri Monsdatter, 20; and Torbjør Monsdatter, 15. Mons Torsen died between the 1801 census (S1694) and 23 November 1805; no burial of his is in the Røldal register for those years, nor in the Suldal register, whose pages for 1801 to 1805 were read from the images. With the census and his widow’s probate (S2257), the third original record that makes Tore Monsen of Bakkene their son. The holding is “pladset Bakken under gaarden Selland”, a cotter’s place under Selland. Some farm names of the guardians are uncertain readings. - S2259Suldal parish, ministerialbok 1780–1800 (Røldal was its annex): the gap from March 1781 to August 1789. Statsarkivet i Stavanger, SAST-A-101845/01/IV/L0003, Digitalarkivet source 15891. Images examined, read 18 October 2026. The entries for 1781 run from New Year to mid-March (Oculi Sunday); the next written page is headed 1789 and opens with the note of the new priest, Eric Ancher Bruun, that he took over the parish and its books on 8 August 1789 at his predecessor’s death; entries resume on the 12th Sunday after Trinity 1789. Nothing is recorded in between, the same gap as in the Røldal register (S1695); no other Suldal or Røldal book on Digitalarkivet covers those years. So the baptisms of Tore Monsen Selland (born about 1781–82 by the 1801 census) and Ingebjørg Ormsdatter (born about 1784–85) do not survive.Cited on Tore Monsen Selland · Ingebjørg Ormsdatter.
- S2260Suldal parish, ministerialbok 1777–1780 (spine 1778–80): searched for a baptism of Tore, son of Mons. Statsarkivet i Stavanger, Digitalarkivet source 15890, 28 images. Images examined, read 18 October 2026 after contrast-stretching the faded pages. Register entries run from autumn 1778 to spring 1780 (images 1–13) and on one undated leaf (images 18–20); the other pages hold the priest’s accounts and notes. The book records Røldal only on the few Sundays the priest preached there: a service of 20 September 1779 with a burial and no baptism, and a 28 June service whose four baptisms are Agathe, Knud, Orm and one more child, none a son of Mons. No Tore son of Mons is in the book, so a birth about 1778–79, as his age at burial gives, is not confirmed either. Serves the card of Tore Monsen Selland.Cited on Tore Monsen Selland.
Where we looked and found nothing
Records were reached through the family’s own Ancestry, FamilySearch and Archion subscriptions and through public archives; no paywall or CAPTCHA was bypassed. One false lead is worth remembering: the apparent “Proeger” in the 1950 Texas census is a Kroeger, an unrelated family with no nine-year-old boy in it. What is still being looked for is on the front page under What is still unknown.
