Research status

Research status: PROBABLE, accepted by Earl 28 September 2026 pending more evidence, and added to the tree on his approval of 30 September 2026. Her place as Mabel’s mother is read from the image of the 1930 census of Austin, where Virginia Logue, 62, widowed, born in Tennessee, is entered as the mother of the head, Mable Piland S924 Confirmed; her maiden name is read from the image of the Calhoun County marriage register S908. Added 30 September 2026

Evidence: In 1930 at Austin, read from the image, Virginia Logue, 62, widowed, born in Tennessee, lives with her daughter Mable Piland as Mable's mother; in 1900 at Waco, read from the image, Virginia A., born July 1867 in Tennessee, is the wife of D. C. Logue with their daughter Mable, born October 1895; the Calhoun County, Alabama, marriage register, read from the image, records the marriage of D. C. Logue and Virginia Alice Hamby on 2 April 1890; in 1910 she is at Cuero with Dan C. Logue and Mabel, 14, and in 1920 in Grayson County with him; in April 1950, read from the image, Virginia Logue, 81, widowed, born in Tennessee, is at Howe, Grayson County, as the mother-in-law of Harry R. Lewis, whose wife Ethel was born in Alabama about 1891. Weak or missing: The Hamby family has not been researched, so her parents are not found; her death is not found, though the 1950 census shows her alive; the 1930 census calls her a widow, which does not fit the 1939 death Find a Grave gives her husband; no record read here names her daughter Ethel as a Logue. Weak or missing
What is weak or missing: the marriage and the 1900 and 1950 censuses are now read from the images; the 1950 census shows her alive at 81, so she died after April 1950; the Hamby family has not been researched; the 1930 census calls her a widow, which does not fit the 1939 death Find a Grave gives her husband; her death and her parents are not found

The image agrees with the index. It gives D. C.’s birth as November 1857, a year before the 24 November 1858 of his Find a Grave memorial [S909]; Ethel’s Alabama birth in 1891 fits the 1890 Calhoun County marriage [S908].
  2. S908Calhoun County, Alabama, marriage register — D. C. Logue and Virginia Alice Hamby, 2 April 1890. Alabama County Marriage Records, Ancestry record 901501955, page 123; indexed in Ancestry collection 60000, records 118681 and 1420397. Image examined in the Stage 2 reading, 30 September 2026. Probable Licence issued 2 April 1890 by Emmett F. Crook, Judge of Probate, to join “D. C. Logue and Virginia Alice Hamby”; the return certifies that the minister solemnized the marriage the same day, 2 April 1890, signed Allen K. Moore(?), pastor of the Christian Church. Until 30 September 2026 this was read from the index only. The register gives no ages, parents or residences.
  3. S909Find a Grave memorial 97803773 — Dan Crutcher Logue (1858–1939). Compiled for the Proeger family

Living adults appear by name and relationship, with the year only: no full date of birth and no home town on any page that search engines index, and a living person’s own page is kept out of search engines. Minors appear by name only — no date of birth, no birth year, no age, no school, no place, no address, no other identifying detail. A minor may be named and may appear in a family photograph; nothing further about them is published. Where it is not established whether someone is an adult or a minor, the minor rule applies.
