How to read this record
Every claim is tagged
Most family trees flatten everything into the same confident typeface. This one does not. The three research tags below are the whole point of the exercise: they say what a document proves, what the weight of evidence suggests, and what nobody has found yet. A fourth marks what the family stated directly, where no document has been retrieved at all — it is kept separate on purpose and is never quietly promoted to confirmed. A fifth marks biological evidence: a DNA result is not a document, and it is not testimony either. Two further labels mark where this page withholds information rather than lacking it.
Attested by a document that was actually retrieved and read — a census sheet, a government index, a grave marker, a family-written obituary.
Strongly supported but not nailed down: a user-contributed tree, a masked index field, or a chain of consistent circumstances. Believable, not proven.
Searched for and not located. This is a statement about the search, not about the person — the record may well exist somewhere unsearched.
Supplied by the family and recorded on their word — no document has been retrieved for it. Note the diamond rather than the dot: this is provenance, not proof, and it stands apart from the three record tags above S24.
Biological evidence consistent with a claim. It corroborates origins; it does not by itself establish a person or a link. Note the bar rather than a dot or a diamond: no DNA result on this page is ever counted as confirmed, because no document was read for it S46.
The person is living. On the charts and in the chains of names a living person appears by name and relationship. A living adult’s full record is on their own card, published with the family’s consent and kept out of search engines. A minor appears by name only. The privacy note at the head of the page gives the rule in full.
A branch that is actively being worked on. The node exists in the structure so the shape of the family is honest; the detail is simply not in yet.

Research status
Evidence: Her Find a Grave memorial (65002833, read as text) gives the same birth date as her twin Ella, 14 December 1888 at Cass, Arkansas, her death on 10 February 1889, and links William Anderson Bowles and Iona Belle Brock Bowles as her parents (S2455). Weak or missing: Find a Grave is a compiled source. Its death place, Potosi, Texas, conflicts with the family being in Arkansas until 1892 (S1632). Not yet confirmed. Know more? Life in the order the records give it
Nella Bowles was born on 14 December 1888 at Cass, Franklin County, Arkansas, the twin of Ella, and died on 10 February 1889, less than two months old. Her Find a Grave memorial links her to her parents, William Anderson Bowles and Iona Belle Brock Bowles S2455. The memorial gives her death place as Potosi, Texas, but the family moved to Taylor County only in 1892, by her mother’s obituary S1632, so the Potosi stone may be a family marker. Where she died is left open.

Bowles near Potosi; born 31 December 1865 near London, Kentucky; married 24 December 1880 at Taft, Arkansas; to Taylor County in 1892. - S2455Find a Grave memorials 65002624, 65002833 and 65002518 — Ella, Nella and Alvin Bluford Bowles. Read 26 October 2026 (PA-1026E), text only — the headstone photographs were not read. Probable Ella Bowles, born 14 December 1888, Cass, Franklin County, Arkansas, died 24 May 1904, Potosi, Taylor County, Texas, aged 15, Potosi Cemetery, “Twin”; Nella Bowles, born 14 December 1888, Cass, died 10 February 1889, death place given as Potosi, “Twin”; Alvin Bluford Bowles, born 21 June 1905, died 26 June 1905, aged 5 days, Potosi Cemetery. Each memorial links William Anderson Bowles and Iona Belle Brock Bowles as parents, and Iona’s own memorial (S23) lists all three among her children. A compiled source. Nella’s Potosi death place conflicts with the family being in Arkansas until 1892.
