How to read this record
Every claim is tagged
Most family trees flatten everything into the same confident typeface. This one does not. The three research tags below are the whole point of the exercise: they say what a document proves, what the weight of evidence suggests, and what nobody has found yet. A fourth marks what the family stated directly, where no document has been retrieved at all — it is kept separate on purpose and is never quietly promoted to confirmed. A fifth, added on 13 September 2026, marks biological evidence: a DNA result is not a document, and it is not testimony either. Two further labels mark where this page withholds information rather than lacking it.
Attested by a document that was actually retrieved and read — a census sheet, a government index, a grave marker, a family-written obituary.
Strongly supported but not nailed down: a user-contributed tree, a masked index field, or a chain of consistent circumstances. Believable, not proven.
Searched for and not located. This is a statement about the search, not about the person — the record may well exist somewhere unsearched.
Supplied by the family and recorded on their word — no document has been retrieved for it. Note the diamond rather than the dot: this is provenance, not proof, and it stands apart from the three record tags above S24.
Biological evidence consistent with a claim. It corroborates origins; it does not by itself establish a person or a link. Note the bar rather than a dot or a diamond: no DNA result on this page is ever counted as confirmed, because no document was read for it S46.
The person is living. By the privacy rule for this page, name and relationship are shown, and at most a year the family has already published. Full dates of birth, ages, places of residence and record identifiers are held back.
A branch that is actively being worked on. The node exists in the structure so the shape of the family is honest; the detail is simply not in yet.

Research status
Evidence: The index of her Texas death certificate gives Mrs. Lucy C. Chrane, born 20 December 1886 in Texas, died 30 December 1929 at Abilene, father D. E. Coffman and mother Mollie Wright, and the Texas Death Index gives the same day; the 1910 and 1920 census indexes list Lucy C. as the wife of George A. Chrane (S1717). Weak or missing: Every record is an index and the certificate image is unread; a family history printed in 1940 gives 1885 and 1930, each a year off; no marriage record has been found. - S108Dee Coffman family photograph, circa 1924 — names supplied by Virginia "Ginger" Coffman. A copy of the group photograph already published here, with names typed onto fourteen of the faces and captioned in the image itself “Dee Coffman Family / Circa 1924.” Compiled by Virginia "Ginger" Coffman (Earl's aunt, daughter of Robert William Coffman) and relayed by Earl on 18 September 2026. The labelled image is on this page. Names given: James Burton Coffman, Robert William Coffman, Sue, Lucy, Lydia Mae, Lee Coffman, James David Coffman, Dee Coffman, Mollie Wright Coffman, Lydia Francis Coffman, Ila Belle Coffman, Horace Glenn Coffman, David Coffman, Jesse Coffman. FAMILY TESTIMONY, and graded as such. A relative naming relatives she knew is good provenance; it is not a record, and no document here names a face. This is an addition, not a correction — the photograph's attribution to Dee and Mollie Coffman's family was never in question, and is unchanged. Its weight is that it answers a question this page had been carrying since 16 September: which figures are Dee and Mollie. Ten of the fourteen names are new; four agree with the identifications Earl's uncle David Coffman gave two days earlier. Mary Jane "Mollie" Wright has no other photograph anywhere in this record, so the detail on her card is cut from this frame and labelled as a detail. ⚠️ Her circa 1924 is the family's attribution and sits inside this page's earlier 1923–1930 estimate; the photograph still carries no date of its own.
- S1717Texas death certificate index — Mrs. Lucy C. Chrane, Abilene, Taylor County, 30 December 1929; with the 1910 and 1920 census indexes. Ancestry, “Texas, U.S., Death Certificates, 1903–1982”, record 22383856; FamilySearch K3QC-W12 and Texas Death Index VZD7-BJX; FamilySearch census indexes M298-X1P (1910, Justice Precinct 4, Callahan County) and MCM9-F2Z (1920). Indexes read on 4 October 2026. Probable Mrs. Lucy C. Chrane, born 20 Dec 1886, Texas, died 30 Dec 1929 at Abilene, aged 43; father D. E. Coffman, mother Mollie Wright. In 1910 and 1920 Lucy C. is the wife of George A. Chrane. ⚠ Index only: no image of the certificate or of either census page has been read. Serves the cards of Lucy C. Coffman Chrane and of her husband George Albert Chrane; their children are not named here.
- S1723Indexes — George Albert Chrane, born Texas, 15 January 1883; died September 1970, last residence Taylor County, Texas. FamilySearch: World War I draft registration index, Callahan County, Texas (7TZY-G76Z); 1930 census index, Precinct 2, Callahan County (CQP9-GW2); Texas birth index, Abilene, 1926; Social Security Death Index (J1LH-76K). Indexes read on 4 October 2026; no image read. Probable Draft registration: George Albert Chrane, born 15 Jan 1883, nearest relative Lucy Caroline Chrane. 1930: G. A. Chrane, with children. Birth index, 1926: father George Albert Chrane, mother Lucy Catherine Coffman. Social Security: George Chrane, born 15 Jan 1883, died Sep 1970, last residence Taylor County. ⚠ Index only: no image has been read. The death is given to the month only, with a last residence and no place of death. His wife’s middle name differs between the two indexes that give it. The 1910 and 1920 census indexes that name the couple are at S1717. Serves the card of George Albert Chrane; his children are not named here.
