How to read this record
Every claim is tagged
Most family trees flatten everything into the same confident typeface. This one does not.
The three research tags below are the whole point of the exercise: they say what a document
proves, what the weight of evidence suggests, and what nobody has found yet. A fourth marks
what the family stated directly, where no document has been retrieved at all — it is kept
separate on purpose and is never quietly promoted to confirmed. A fifth, added on
13 September 2026, marks biological evidence: a DNA result is not a document, and it is not
testimony either. Two further labels mark where this page withholds information
rather than lacking it.
ConfirmedAttested by a document that was actually retrieved and read — a census sheet, a
government index, a grave marker, a family-written obituary.
ProbableStrongly supported but not nailed down: a user-contributed tree, a masked index field,
or a chain of consistent circumstances. Believable, not proven.
Not foundSearched for and not located. This is a statement about the search, not about the
person — the record may well exist somewhere unsearched.
Family testimonySupplied by the family and recorded on their word — no document has been retrieved for
it. Note the diamond rather than the dot: this is provenance, not proof, and it stands
apart from the three record tags above S24.
DNA evidenceBiological evidence consistent with a claim. It corroborates origins; it does
not by itself establish a person or a link. Note the bar rather than a dot or a diamond:
no DNA result on this page is ever counted as confirmed, because no document
was read for it S46.
Living — withheldThe person is living. By the privacy rule for this page, name and relationship are
shown, and at most a year the family has already published. Full dates of birth, ages,
places of residence and record identifiers are held back.
Research in progressA branch that is actively being worked on. The node exists in the structure so the
shape of the family is honest; the detail is simply not in yet.

Research status
Research status: CONFIRMED (index) — added 24 September 2026 from an index record that names her father; entered in the family tree the same day.
Life in the order the records give it
Birth1878
Born
20 August 1878, Leipzig, Germany; Lizzie, the eldest, in the 1900 household
S228Death1951
Named as Lizzie Rojas in her father's obituary index
S296; died
11 February 1951, Bishop, Nueces County, Texas
S634Death1951
🆕 Her death certificate, no. 9437, gives her death on 11 February 1951 at Route 2, Bishop, where she had lived 31 years, of heart disease. It names her father as “Frank Kretczehmas”, born Germany, that is Julius Franz Kretschmar. Her husband, Estanislao Rojas, was the informant, and the Cage-Piper Funeral Home took her to Kingsville
S634. added 26 September 2026.
Census1930
🆕 In 1930 she and Estanislao V. Rojas, 35, born Mexico, lived near Bishop in the
Driscoll Ranch subdivision, Nueces County, with a daughter aged 15. Lizzie was 52, born Germany, German her mother tongue
S639. The census's immigration year, 1909, cannot be right, since she was in her father's Texas household in 1900. In 1950 the couple were still in Nueces County, Estanislao 54 and Lizzie 72, with a boy of 9 listed as their son whose parents are both given as born in Mexico, so probably a grandson or foster son; that census's “born Mexico” for Lizzie is an error
S640. added 26 September 2026.
Family parents, marriages, children, siblings
Marriage1912
🆕 Her husband was
Estanislao Rojas, born in Monterrey, Mexico; they married at Austin on 21 September 1912 and had one child. She petitioned for naturalization at Corpus Christi on 17 June 1941, swearing that she had come to
Baltimore on the SS America in October 1883 as “Lizze Kraetzschmar”
S577. The petition's 1896 birth year for Estanislao is doubtful. added 25 September 2026.
Parents1900
🆕 Her mother: probably
Lena Kretschmar Probable confirm or correct →. In 1900, read from the image, Lizzie is “dau.” of the head, Fritz, and Lena is his wife, married 21 years, with eight children born and eight living
S228. What is weak: the census relationship is to the head only; her naturalization gives her birth as August 1878
S577, a little before a marriage of about 1879, so she could be Lena's stepdaughter, and no record names her mother. added 28 September 2026.

- S2281900 U.S. Federal Census — Fritz Kretschmar household, Justice Precinct 6, Travis County, Texas. Ancestry record 44341807; ED 117, sheet 21B, lines 78–86 (indexed "Kutzschmer"). Read from the image at full resolution, 22 September 2026. Fritz, 48, born Germany, immigrated in 1883, naturalized, married 21 years; Lena, 45, born February 1855, mother of 8 children, 8 living; Lizzie (Aug 1879), Clara (Aug 1881) and Elsie (Jan 1883), born Germany; Charlie (1886), Minnie (Mar 1888), Willie (October 1890) and Max (c.1895), born Texas. 🔑 Fritz is Julius Franz Kretschmar, born c.1851–52. ⚠ His card's 1868–1940 cannot stand against this sheet and [S230]; the card dates are under review and are not changed here.
- S296U.S., Newspapers.com™ Obituary Index, 1800s-current — Franz Kretschmar. Ancestry record 6597875. Index entry only — no image was examined, read 22 September 2026. Probable Indexed: Franz Kretschmar, born 20 Jun 1851, Germany; died about 1946; residence Elroy; children Charley, Will, Max, Lizzie Rojas, Clara Semff, Elsie Peterson, Minnie Reininger. Machine-indexed from his obituary. It independently gives the surname Semff. The daughters' married names are Probable.
- S577Petition for Naturalization no. 746, U.S. District Court, Corpus Christi, 17 June 1941. Ancestry record 212539. Image examined, read 25 September 2026. Confirmed Lizzie Kretschmar Rojas, housewife, of Bishop, Nueces County; born Leipzig, 20 August 1878; married Estanislao Rojas at Austin on 21 September 1912; one child; she swore she arrived at Baltimore on 12 October 1883, on the SS America, as “Lizze Kraetzschmar”. The petition gives her husband's birth as Monterrey, 13 November 1896, which would make him 15 at the marriage; that year is doubtful. The passenger list dates the arrival 10 October 1883.
- S634Texas certificate of death, state file 9437, Nueces County, 1951 — Lizzie Rojas. Ancestry record 21533760. Image examined, read 25 September 2026. Confirmed Lizzie Rojas, died 11 February 1951 at Route 2, Bishop, where she had lived 31 years; married; age 71; housewife; born Germany; father Frank Kretczehmas, born Germany; mother unknown; informant Estanislao Rojas (written “Estanisto”); heart disease; removed on 12 February to Kingsville by the Cage-Piper Funeral Home. Her birth date is left blank. “Frank Kretczehmas” is Julius Franz Kretschmar.
- S6391930 U.S. census — Nueces County, Texas, near Bishop (Driscoll Ranch subdivision). Ancestry record 61600271. Image examined, read 25 September 2026. Confirmed Dwelling 219: Estanislao V. Rojas, 35, born Mexico; Lizzie K., 52, born Germany, mother tongue German, 35 at first marriage; a daughter, 15. The census's immigration year, 1909, cannot be right: she was in her father's Texas household in 1900.
- S6401950 U.S. census — Precinct 3, Nueces County, Texas. Ancestry record 189484327. Image examined, read 25 September 2026. Confirmed Dwelling 84: Estanislao V. Rojas, 54; Lizzie R., 72; and a boy of 9 listed as their son, whose parents are both given as born in Mexico. This census gives Lizzie's birthplace as Mexico, an error; she was born at Leipzig. The boy is not named here.
