How to read this record
Every claim is tagged
Most family trees flatten everything into the same confident typeface. This one does not.
The three research tags below are the whole point of the exercise: they say what a document
proves, what the weight of evidence suggests, and what nobody has found yet. A fourth marks
what the family stated directly, where no document has been retrieved at all — it is kept
separate on purpose and is never quietly promoted to confirmed. A fifth, added on
13 September 2026, marks biological evidence: a DNA result is not a document, and it is not
testimony either. Two further labels mark where this page withholds information
rather than lacking it.
ConfirmedAttested by a document that was actually retrieved and read — a census sheet, a
government index, a grave marker, a family-written obituary.
ProbableStrongly supported but not nailed down: a user-contributed tree, a masked index field,
or a chain of consistent circumstances. Believable, not proven.
Not foundSearched for and not located. This is a statement about the search, not about the
person — the record may well exist somewhere unsearched.
Family testimonySupplied by the family and recorded on their word — no document has been retrieved for
it. Note the diamond rather than the dot: this is provenance, not proof, and it stands
apart from the three record tags above S24.
DNA evidenceBiological evidence consistent with a claim. It corroborates origins; it does
not by itself establish a person or a link. Note the bar rather than a dot or a diamond:
no DNA result on this page is ever counted as confirmed, because no document
was read for it S46.
Living — withheldThe person is living. By the privacy rule for this page, name and relationship are
shown, and at most a year the family has already published. Full dates of birth, ages,
places of residence and record identifiers are held back.
Research in progressA branch that is actively being worked on. The node exists in the structure so the
shape of the family is honest; the detail is simply not in yet.

Research status
Research status: PROBABLE — accepted by Earl 28 September 2026 pending more evidence. The 1945 death certificate of Pauline Wenzel, born in Germany in 1866, read from the image, names her father as Traugott Ladusek and her mother's maiden name as
Johanna Sille, born Germany
S850. If
Traugott Ladusch is Otto's father, as his Social Security application says
S851, Johanna is his likely mother. What is weak: no document names Otto's mother — his Social Security application leaves her as “?”
S851 and his death certificate says “no record”
S325 — and a second wife cannot be ruled out
Probable confirm or correct → Evidence: Pauline Wenzel's 1945 death certificate, read from the image, names her parents as Traugott Ladusek and Johanna Sille; Traugott is Otto's probable father by his Social Security application. Weak or missing: No document names Otto's mother: his Social Security index leaves her '?' and his death certificate says 'no record'; a second wife cannot be ruled out. Not yet confirmed. Know more? Confirm or correct this →

In the record
Generation 6 — Kristin's 3rd-great-grandparents
- S325Texas death certificate no. 72008 — Otto Ladusch, 1958. Texas, U.S., Death Certificates, 1903–1982 (Ancestry collection 2272, record 23561925). Read from the image. Born 30 March 1873, Germany; died 26 December 1958, Seton Hospital, Austin, Travis County; parents “no record”; buried Oakwood Cemetery.
- S336Find a Grave memorial 259939327 — Traugott Ladusch. Read 22–23 September 2026. Wife Johanna Selle (1835–1899); children Pauline Alise Wenzel, Annamarie Ehmling, Bertha Nonnenmacher and Reinhold Gustav Ladusch. Otto is not listed.
- S850Texas death certificate, registered no. 9604, Floresville, Wilson County — Pauline Wenzel, 1945. Texas, U.S., Death Certificates, 1903–1982 (Ancestry collection 2272, record 23333461, image 40394_b062269-02225). Image examined, read 28 September 2026. Probable Pauline Wenzel, widowed housewife, died 12 February 1945; born 24 February 1866, Germany; father Traugott Ladusek, born Germany; mother's maiden name Johanna Sille, born Germany; informant Max Wenzel, Floresville. A probable sister's certificate, not Otto Ladusch's; cited for the names of Traugott's wife and family.
- S851Social Security application of Otto Paul Ladusch — two indexes. U.S., Social Security Applications and Claims Index (Ancestry record 613670605) and FamilySearch 1:1:6K7G-NCPT (United States Social Security Numerical Identification Files). Index entry only — no image was examined, read 28 September 2026. Probable Otto Paul Ladusch, born 30 March 1873, “Gruny”, West Germany; father Traugott Ladusch; mother “?”. Both index the same application; the SS-5 image has not been read. The birth date matches Otto's 1958 death certificate (S325), whose parents are “no record”.
