The record in detail

Deceased ancestors are given in full — this is ordinary published genealogy drawn from records that are already public. Living adults appear by name and relationship, with the year only — Earl's instruction of 3 October 2026: no full date of birth and no home town on any page that search engines index, and a living person's own page is kept out of search engines. Minors appear by name only: no date of birth, no birth year, no age, no school, no place, no address. A minor may be named and may appear in a family photograph; nothing further about them is published. Where it is not established whether someone is an adult or a minor, the minor rule applies — an unknown age is resolved protectively, not conveniently.

Research status

Research status: PROBABLE, strong as the mother of Hanß Pröger (b. 1641): the Michelbach an der Heide register names her as Hans Bröger’s wife from 1641, though the baptisms of those years name no mother.

Life

Burial1674
Buried 28 April 1674 at Michelbach an der Heide as “Anna, Hansen Brögers Witwe zu Seibotenberg” Confirmed, read from the image; no age is given, so her birth year is not known. This corrects the earlier “before 1665” on this card: she was a widow by February 1665, not dead. She stood godmother as Hans Bröger’s wife eight times from 1641 to 1657, and as his widow in 1665 and 1667.
Death1665
Register entry, as written: Anna stands godmother as a widow, 19 February 1665. German: “Maria, Hanßen Schumanns, (: Josa Baurn :) und s. W. Ursulae[?], zu Seÿtenb. T. Z. Anna, Joh. Brügers S. Wittwe. 19 Febr. ☉ Reminiscere [margin] Seÿtenberg” English: “Maria, daughter of Hans Schumann (the Josa farmer) and his wife Ursula[?], of Seibotenberg. Godmother: Anna, widow of the late Joh[ann] Brüger. 19 February [1665], Reminiscere Sunday. [margin] Seibotenberg” Reading: confirmed, read from the register image; only the mother’s first name (Ursula) is doubtful, and she is not a Bröger. Source: Michelbach an der Heide (Dekanat Blaufelden, Württemberg), Mischbuch 1627–1678 Band 3, image 47 of 109 (Archion book 109839, page id 25466113); original in the Landeskirchliches Archiv Stuttgart. Text only; no image of this page is published here yet.
Death1667
Register entry, as written: Anna stands godmother as a widow, 10 November 1667. German: “Anna, Leonhart Craffts zu Seÿbothenb. u. Christinae s. W. T. Zeug Anna Johann Brögers daselbst Wittwe, den 10. Novembr. [margin] Seÿtenberg” English: “Anna, daughter of Leonhart Krafft of Seibotenberg and Christina his wife. Godmother: Anna, widow of Johann Bröger of that place, 10 November [1667]. [margin] Seibotenberg” Reading: confirmed, read from the register image; no doubtful word. Source: Michelbach an der Heide (Dekanat Blaufelden, Württemberg), Mischbuch 1627–1678 Band 3, image 50 of 109 (Archion book 109839, page id 25466122); original in the Landeskirchliches Archiv Stuttgart. Open questions

Probable
Probable confirm or correct → Mother of the eight children baptised to Hans Bröger of Seibotenberg from 1637 to 1655: Anna Maria, Babylonia, Hans, Philipp, Michael, Maria Margareta, Leonhart and Melchior. Evidence: she married about January 1635 and is named as his wife from 1641; Hans Schumann and his wife Babylonia sponsor the children throughout. What is weak: the baptisms of those years never name the mother, and the register never gives her maiden name. Know more? Use “Add to this record”.
Probable
Probable confirm or correct → The Beimbach marriage register for 1634 records Hans Pröger, a widower, marrying Anna, daughter of the late Michael Schumann of Seibotenberg, about January 1635 at Lendsiedel S1237. What is weak or missing: nothing on the page ties this couple to the Seibotenberg baptisms from 1641, and the year rests on the 1634 banns. Know more? Use “Add to this record”

Research status

Research status: PROBABLE, strong as the father of Hanß Pröger (b. 1641): the Michelbach an der Heide register of 1627–1678 calls Hanß the late Hans Bröger’s son in 1661, 1664 and 1669; the probable step is that this Hanß is the child baptised in August 1641.

Life

Burial1661
Buried 19 February 1661 at Michelbach an der Heide as “Johannes Bröger zu Seibotenberg, Gerichtsmann, 64 Jahr alt”, so born about 1596 or 1597 Confirmed. A farmer and a member of the local court (Gerichtsverwandter). The entry names no wife or child; he is identified by name, village and office, and because he was alive in August 1658 and “the late” by September 1661.
Burial1678
Register entry, as written: burial of a Hans Bröger, 7 February 1678 (not placed). German: “[left margin] d. 7. Febr: Hannß Brög[er] im 74 [Jahr] Bauer zu Seÿbotenberg mit Christl. Ceremonien begrab[en] word[en] [right margin] Seÿbotenberg” English: “[margin] 7 February [1678]: Hans Brög[er], in his 74th [year], farmer at Seibotenberg, was buried with Christian ceremonies. [margin] Seibotenberg” Reading: probable only. The surname stands in the margin with a pencil line through its lower half, and this hand’s 3 and 7 are alike, so the age may not be 74. He is not the Hans of this card, who was buried in 1661; he is placed in no household and nothing here rests on him. Know more? Use “Add to this record”. Source: Michelbach an der Heide (Dekanat Blaufelden, Württemberg), Mischbuch 1627–1678 Band 3, image 107 of 109 (Archion book 109839, page id 25466293); original in the Landeskirchliches Archiv Stuttgart. Census2026
History of this card. 4 Oct 2026
card added as the probable father of Hanß Pröger.
8 Oct 2026 — burial of 19 February 1661 and the household of ten children entered from the Michelbach register of 1627–1678, read page by page; an earlier note that he had died by 1661 “on the strength of a 1661 marriage of his son” withdrawn (there was no such marriage; Hanß married in 1669).
12 Oct 2026 — the dated notes folded into the standing text.

Family

Marriage
Husband of Anna, of Seibotenberg, a hamlet of Michelbach an der Heide parish. Father of Hanß Pröger, and of nine more children named in the register (below)
Marriage1627
His household, rebuilt from the Michelbach an der Heide register for 1627–1678, every page read from the images. Ten children are named as his: Georg (a grown son by 1649, so of the first marriage; married 1658), Barbara (married 1666), Anna Maria (baptised 24 January 1637; married 1655), Babylonia (30 July 1639), Hans (August 1641), Philipp (22 June 1644; married 1669), Michael (3 December 1646; married 1669), Maria Margareta (22 February 1650; married 1671), Leonhart (21 November 1652) and Melchior (15 June 1655). Six marriage entries call the bride or groom a child of Hans Bröger of Seibotenberg Confirmed. Probable confirm or correct → that each bride is the child of the same name baptised earlier, and that Anna was the mother of the eight baptised from 1637. What is weak: the baptisms name no mother before 1663, and no baptism of Georg or Barbara has been found. Know more? Use “Add to this record”.
Children1641
Which Hans is which. The register writes Hans, Johann and Johannes for this one man. His son Hans (1641–1710) is told apart as “the late Hans Bröger’s unmarried son” from 1661; his son Philipp is once written plain “Hans”. One entry is not placed: a “Hannß Brög[er], Bauer zu Seibotenberg” buried 7 February 1678 “in his 74th year”, who can be neither this Hans nor his son (possible only, not placed). Either a kinsman of the same name born about 1604, or a misread surname or age; nothing on this record rests on him. Know more? Use “Add to this record”.
Parents1661
Register entry, as written: Hans stands godfather as his late father’s unmarried son, 26 September 1661. German: “Hans, Hanßen Waldmanns Hirt zu Seÿbotenberg S. Z. Hanß Bröger, Hanßen Brögers zu Seÿbotenb. nachgelass. lediger Sohn. 26. Septembris, 3. Tag vor Michaelis [margin] Seÿbotenbg” English: “Hans, son of Hans Waldmann, herdsman at Seibotenberg. Godfather: Hans Bröger, the unmarried son left by Hans Bröger of Seibotenberg. 26 September [1661], the third day before Michaelmas. [margin] Seibotenberg” Reading: confirmed, read from the register image. ‘Nachgelassen’ (left behind) is the first entry that calls him dead, seven months after his burial. Source: Michelbach an der Heide (Dekanat Blaufelden, Württemberg), Mischbuch 1627–1678 Band 3, image 43 of 109 (Archion book 109839, page id 25466101); original in the Landeskirchliches Archiv Stuttgart. Research status

Research status: PROBABLE. Eva, the surviving daughter of the late Jörg Kreber (or Kerber) of Groß-Allmerspann, married Hans Gronbach, son of Hans Gronbach of the same place, on 27 November 1649 S836; and in December 1652 an Anna Maria was baptised at Langenburg to Johannes Gronbach of Groß-Allmerspann and Eva S837. Both read from the register images. What is weak: the 1676 marriage of Anna Maria names only her father S805, so the link rests on the 1652 child being the 1676 bride (the same father, hamlet and given name).
Show detailsHide details

Evidence: Her 1649 marriage to Hans Gronbach of Groß-Allmerspann, as the surviving daughter of the late Jörg Kreber, and the December 1652 Langenburg baptism of Anna Maria to Johannes Gronbach and Eva; both read from the register images. Weak or missing: The 1676 marriage names only Anna Maria's father, so the link rests on the 1652 child being the 1676 bride; her death is not found; her 1631 baptism, which names her father Georg Kreber, is now read (S1077). Not yet confirmed. Know more? Confirm or correct this →

Research status

Research status: CONFIRMED as the father of Anna Maria Gronbach. The Lendsiedel marriage register of 29 February 1676 names the bride as “Anna Maria, Hannß Gronbachs deß jüngern, [Bauers] zu großen Allmerspann, ehelich ledige Tochter”, the legitimate daughter of Hans Gronbach the younger, farmer at Groß-Allmerspann S805; and the Langenburg baptism register for December 1652 records Anna Maria, child of Johannes Gronbach of Groß-Allmerspann and Eva S837. Both were read from the register images.

Research status

Research status: PROBABLE. A margin insertion beside Hans Schuster’s 1676 marriage entry reads roughly “u. Michel Schüsters deß gewesenen …bauern zu Kl…”, making the groom the son of a late Michel Schüster S805. What is weak: the words after “gewesenen” and the place name are not legible, and no baptism of Hans has been found.

Living adults appear by name and relationship, with the year only: no full date of birth and no home town on any page that search engines index, and a living person’s own page is kept out of search engines. Minors appear by name only — no date of birth, no birth year, no age, no school, no place, no address, no other identifying detail. A minor may be named and may appear in a family photograph; nothing further about them is published. Where it is not established whether someone is an adult or a minor, the minor rule applies.
