Research status

Research status: PROBABLE — accepted by Earl 28 September 2026 pending more evidence. The DAR Lineage Book entry for Miss Lilla May Duncan (no. 112604) gives the line “James Quisenberry m. 1776 Jane Burris (1759–1811). Thomas Burris m. Frances Tandy”, Thomas a sergeant in the 3rd Virginia regiment who died in Virginia in 1789 S751. Thomas Burrus's own will of 1788 names his wife Frances, a son William Tandy and a daughter Frances Tandy Bush, besides “my daughter Jane Quisenberry” S645. A 1940 SAR application by another Burrus descendant, Ollie Ezekiel Reed, was read too, but the image is only its cover and references sheet S856. What is weak: only compiled lineage books give her maiden name as Tandy; the will names Thomas's wife Frances without a surname and does not say she was Jane's mother; FamilySearch has no independent record.

Evidence: DAR Lineage Book no. 112604 names Frances Tandy as Thomas Burris's wife in Jane Burris's numbered line, and Thomas Burrus's 1788 will names his wife Frances, a son William Tandy and a daughter Frances Tandy Bush. Weak or missing: Only compiled lineage books give her maiden name; the will gives no surname and does not say Frances was Jane's mother, and no original record has been found. Not yet confirmed. Compiled for the Proeger family

Living adults appear by name and relationship, with the year only: no full date of birth and no home town on any page that search engines index, and a living person’s own page is kept out of search engines. Minors appear by name only — no date of birth, no birth year, no age, no school, no place, no address, no other identifying detail. A minor may be named and may appear in a family photograph; nothing further about them is published. Where it is not established whether someone is an adult or a minor, the minor rule applies.
