Each census gives his wife as Mordante or Mordalite; added 24 September 2026.

🆕 The 1880 agriculture schedule for the First District of Sumner County lists him as owner of his farm S654. His wife, entered on her death record as Mordant Chenault, was born 20 February 1873, a daughter of Thomas Bradley and Eugenia Huddleston. She died at St. Thomas Hospital, Nashville, on 24 June 1935 and was buried at Gallatin S656. added 26 September 2026.

Besides the farm's wheat, the accounts show $863 in the bank, a Fidelity Mutual Life policy worth $2,035.65, rent on a restaurant and upstairs room, and a gasoline rental from Pan American Petroleum. His son Neil appears in several entries. added 27 September 2026

🆕 The Wilson County return shows he married Mandante (or Maudante) Bradley on 15 November 1893, the day the licence was issued at Lebanon; the minister was T. B. Larimore; the clerk was Wm. Harkreader S424. His death certificate gives him as Charlie Cornelius Chenault, a widowed farmer, born 28 December 1858, son of David Chenault and Louise Quisenberry, both born in Kentucky. He died at Castalian Springs on 19 March 1936 and was buried in Gallatin Cemetery S425. The middle name Cornelius came from an informant in Murfreesboro and the tree has Coker; both are kept until a second record decides. added 25 September 2026.
