How to read this record
Every claim is tagged
Most family trees flatten everything into the same confident typeface. This one does not.
The three research tags below are the whole point of the exercise: they say what a document
proves, what the weight of evidence suggests, and what nobody has found yet. A fourth marks
what the family stated directly, where no document has been retrieved at all — it is kept
separate on purpose and is never quietly promoted to confirmed. A fifth, added on
13 September 2026, marks biological evidence: a DNA result is not a document, and it is not
testimony either. Two further labels mark where this page withholds information
rather than lacking it.
ConfirmedAttested by a document that was actually retrieved and read — a census sheet, a
government index, a grave marker, a family-written obituary.
ProbableStrongly supported but not nailed down: a user-contributed tree, a masked index field,
or a chain of consistent circumstances. Believable, not proven.
Not foundSearched for and not located. This is a statement about the search, not about the
person — the record may well exist somewhere unsearched.
Family testimonySupplied by the family and recorded on their word — no document has been retrieved for
it. Note the diamond rather than the dot: this is provenance, not proof, and it stands
apart from the three record tags above S24.
DNA evidenceBiological evidence consistent with a claim. It corroborates origins; it does
not by itself establish a person or a link. Note the bar rather than a dot or a diamond:
no DNA result on this page is ever counted as confirmed, because no document
was read for it S46.
Living — withheldThe person is living. By the privacy rule for this page, name and relationship are
shown, and at most a year the family has already published. Full dates of birth, ages,
places of residence and record identifiers are held back.
Research in progressA branch that is actively being worked on. The node exists in the structure so the
shape of the family is honest; the detail is simply not in yet.

Life in the order the records give it
Birth1972
Born
23 February 1972, Travis County, Texas. The
Texas Birth Index names
his father as
Thomas Alan Caffey and his mother as
Clare LaVonne Walker
S126the same two parents the same
index gives for Kristin three years later. That is what makes him her full
brother, and it is a state record, not a surname match.
Death2022
Corroborated independently: his grandmother
Dorothy LaVonne Walker's 2022
obituary lists him and Kristin in a single sentence as grandchildren of the same
woman
S36. Two sources, neither derived from
the other.
ConfirmedSchooling1990
L. C. Anderson High School, Austin
the 1990 volume's index prints
"Caffey, Bradley N 'Brad' (12)" directly above
"Caffey, Kristin (9)"
on the same page
S132: the two of them
at one school in one year, a senior and a freshman, which is exactly what a 1972 and
a 1975 birth predict. ⚠️ A 1987 Austin yearbook also indexes him, but
which school that volume is has not been verified and is not claimed here.
Were there other children? Probably not, and "probably" is the honest word.
Across the whole Caffey record cluster and the full obituary survivor list, only Brad and
Kristin appear as children of Thomas Alan Caffey and Clare LaVonne Walker. That is
absence of evidence — but from two sources that each had reason to name everyone, which
is why it is
Probable confirm or correct → and not Confirmed
S126.
He is living, and this page publishes living adults in full — Earl's rule of
21 September 2026. His residence history, which the records also supply down to
city and year, stays in the research corpus: that is an editorial judgement about what
belongs in a genealogy, not a privacy rule.
Family parents, marriages, children, siblings
Marriage2003
Married Erin Helm on 23 August 2003, Travis County, Texas
three separate
indexes agree on the date
S131. Her own
ancestry is a different family and out of scope for this record, which is why it is
not worked here.
Children2026
His children are
Preston Caffey and
Scarlett Caffey, named in their
great-grandmother's obituary
S36.
Their ages are not established from any record read here, so this page
publishes no dates, ages or schools for them. Earl chose on 25 September 2026 to
publish two items that show them in full: the obituary page image itself, and a
2015 family portrait of Brad and Erin with two children, below. The portrait's
uploader tagged only Brad and Erin, so the children in it are
Probable as Preston and Scarlett.
Siblings—
He is already a person in Earl's own Ancestry tree, where the relationship graph
labels him brother-in-law. He was new to this research corpus, not to the
tree
which is a different claim and is worth keeping straight.

Generation 1 — Kristin's brother
- S36Obituary of Dorothy LaVonne Peters Walker (12 February 1926 – 13 August 2022), Greenwood Funeral Home, Fort Worth — greenwoodfuneralhomes.com; the same text transcribed on FindAGrave memorial 242876604, Mount Olivet Cemetery, Fort Worth. Family-written. It names her husband "Melvin Walker," her parents "Benjamin 'Pete' and Selma Peters," her three daughters, her Chicago birth and Sioux Falls upbringing, the Norway trips, and — decisively — "Kristin (Earl) Proeger of Austin, TX" among her grandchildren. ⚠️ Only the funeral home's own copy carries the "ROUND ROCK" dateline; the FindAGrave transcription drops it. The funeral home's page is published in full in the Documents grid (Earl's per-item exception, 25 Sep 2026).
- S126Bradley Neal Caffey — Texas birth index, 23 February 1972, Travis County. Texas, U.S., Birth Index, 1903–1997, Ancestry collection 8781, record 11286050, index image
TXBTH_1972_000216a. Read 21 September 2026. Father Thomas Alan Caffey; mother Clare LaVonne Walker. The record that makes him Kristin's full brother rather than a surname match. A state birth index naming both parents, and they are the same two parents the same index gives for Kristin in 1975 (image TXBTH_1975_000216e). Corroborated independently by the 2022 Walker obituary [S36], which lists Brad and Kristin in one sentence as grandchildren of the same woman. ⚠ No evidence of a third child. Across the whole Caffey hint cluster and the full obituary, only these two appear as children of this couple — that is absence of evidence from two sources that each had reason to name everyone, and is graded Probable, not Confirmed. - S131Bradley Neal Caffey — marriage to Erin Helm, 23 August 2003, Travis County, Texas. Three independent indexes agreeing on the date: Texas, U.S., Marriage Index collection 8795 record 13022122; Newspapers.com Marriage Index collection 62116 record 177232356; Texas, U.S., Select County Marriage Records collection 9168 record 940285567. Read 21 September 2026. Her own ancestry belongs to a different family and is out of scope for this record, which is why it is not worked here. Brad's residence history, which these records also supply down to city and year, stays in the research corpus — an editorial judgement about what belongs in a genealogy, not a privacy rule.
- S132Kristin Marie Caffey — L. C. Anderson High School yearbooks, Austin, Texas, 1990 and 1993. U.S., School Yearbooks, 1900–2016, Ancestry collection 1265: 1990 image
sid_1636_1990_0095 (record 601954478, printed page 91, "Unique Classes" underclass portrait rail, key printing "Kristin Caffey (9)"); 1990 image sid_1636_1990_0197 (record 1164442023, printed page 193, index and group pictures, printing "Caffey, Kristin (9) 50, 91, 193" and the Marching Band group caption); 1993 image sid_1636_1993_0110 (record 1052669974, printed page 106, "1993 Seniors of Anderson" mass class photograph, roll printing her full name "Kristin Marie Caffey"). Retrieved 21 September 2026 through Earl's signed-in Ancestry session; Deep-Zoom tiles stitched at level 12 to 2720 × 3664 px (1990) and 2592 × 3376 px (1993), 138 of 138 tiles, no misses. Read-only: no hint was accepted, ignored, rejected or attached, and no tree was edited. The school is Anderson, not Austin High — the research brief that commissioned this said Austin High and was wrong. The viewer breadcrumb reads Texas / Austin / Anderson High School, Ancestry's own school field says Anderson on all three records, and the 1993 page is captioned "1993 Seniors of Anderson" with Anderson sweatshirts in the photograph. Printed page numbers differ from the image sequence numbers throughout this collection (91≠095, 193≠197, 106≠110); both are recorded. ⚠ Ancestry's derived birth years for her are junk and are not used. It computes 1974 from the 1990 volume and 1977 from the 1993 one for the same person — both are blanket "about 16" machine estimates, not records. Her date of birth here comes from the state birth index [S126]. ⚠ A 1993 senior class photograph is several hundred living people, not one. The page is published because Earl asked for it by name; everyone else on it is a classmate who did not. That is recorded here as a judgement made, not a detail overlooked. One page not retrieved: printed page 50, which her own index line cites.
